Supernatural Childbirth

Posted on

Welcome to the blogosphere everyone, my son! He was born on 16 August. Yeah, I have been blogging with a huge abdomen, lol. Being pregnant, meant I worked fewer hours and that answers the question as to why I was able to update so often. I have 2 sons and a daughter. That will be all folks. Let others continue the earth replenishment. Lol. Today, I will share the story of supernatural childbirth.
Being
Being petite in a country where the overweight are celebrated, meant I was taunted as a young girl.

“How will a baby pass through that tiny waist?”

“Will you be able to give birth? ”

Any Nigerian will attest to how some people assume they have the right to say anything to you, no matter how it hurts. I was therefore, excited, when one of my besties told me about Jackie Mize’s book “Supernatural Childbirth” At the time, I was 4 or 5 months pregnant, and we were working in the same hospital.

The book teaches about our covenant rights as children of God and that childbirth does not have to be fearful. Labor can be defined as the onset of regular, painful, uterine contractions, with descent of the presenting part (usually the head of the baby), dilatation of the cervix (opening of the womb), and culminating in the birth of the child. Note the word “painful”. Many who have never given birth have their view of childbirth shaped by movies and other people’s experiences. So did I. One of my equally petite friends (she used to joke that she was in the kindergarten section of medical school), declared that she would go for elective CS. That is Ceasarian section by choice.

I read the book and it debunked the belief that labour should be fearful, painful, protracted, or complicated. The author used scripture to make her point. Her testimony of being medically unfit to bear children, yet ending up with 4 kids, inspired me. Also, many who read the book, wrote to say it worked. I then remembered that I once had a patient we laughed at because she was not in pain. We left her in the ward to attend to those who were shouting. She ended up having the baby there, with almost no assistance. I don’t know if she was in faith or a freak of nature but, all I told myself was, “It is possible”.

So, I began to study, memorize, mutter aloud (like a mad woman), imagine, declare and decree, the declarations in the book. Over 3 months, my faith became so tangible, it was impossible for me to doubt. My 1st son was born on boxing day. Two days before, I saw the Ob/gyn at work. He told me I was having contractions.

“Are you not in pain?”, he asked.

“No”, I replied.

“These are very strong contractions. Your baby should be born tomorrow”

“I thought he was just kicking”, I laughed. “I don’t want a Christmas baby. Let him wait till 28”.

On Christmas day, I went shopping, cooked for guests, and went work from 3 -9pm. I felt nothing. When I woke up the next day, my water had broken. I went to the hospital and my colleague examined me.

“Your cervix is dilated. Are you not in pain?”, she asked.

“No”, I laughed.

It was funny because, the nurses thought I was on duty. I was gisting with them, watching TV, reading, etc. Hubby went to church on my insistence. At a time, my colleague needed help siting an IV and I did it for her. Later, I began to feel the contractions. They felt like when you flex your arm tightly but did not cause pain. I was on phone with my parents who were panicking on my behalf.

“How come you sound so calm?”, my mom asked.

“I am not in pain”

My dad kept asking me to confirm that labour was progressing because, if one is not in pain, the suspicion is that there is a complication. He probably worried that I would end up in surgery. Just 1 hour before he was born, I became fearful. It had been 10 hours. The pain hit me like a truck! I wondered if this was what women bore for days, sometimes! What! He was born shortly after and though I had a cut (episiotomy), I was glad it was over.

For my 2nd child, I again built my faith. The labour was so painless, the doctor panicked and went to call the Ob/gyn. He came in as the baby was crowning and asked her to take the delivery.

“Why were you so afraid? “, I asked later.

She apologized but, I had a tear because of the delay. I realized the devil sneaked in and planted the fear.

For my last baby, I had 3 declarations.

“There shall be no pain, no delay, no tears, no panic and no bleeding!”

“I will spend only 1 hour in the hospital before he is born”

“The delivery room shall be a spirit-filled atmosphere. I will burst into laughter at his birth and so will the nurses”

All 3 came to pass. I arrived the hospital at 11.30 pm, my son was born at 12.15 am. The doctor left me with a very experienced midwife. She was very calm and I really bless her. The nurses noticed me smiling because I was pushing and the young man was not coming out. They burst into laughter.

“She’s even smiling?”, they laughed.

“What kind of woman is this?”

I had no tears, did not bleed and God blessed me in so many other ways I cannot describe. Aha! Thanks to blog reader and my bestie, Sue, for the soup she brought for me. You are wonderful!

So, I shared my story to inspire you to fight for the best possible experience you can have. It will take some months to work on your faith but, the rewards are numerous. Even after birth, you use that faith to keep jaundice, sepsis, and other childhood diseases away. It becomes like a muscle you have trained to bear you through life’s challenges.

Fill your car with gospel music and sermon CDs, play music on your mobile device, mutter scriptures during lunch, wake up 15 mins earlier to pray, turn off the gossip blogs, the TV, distracting social media. I remember over 3 days, I read 4 books, just to feed my faith 2 weeks before my EDD. Does that mean those who experienced problems did not have faith? That is not my point. I am only telling you of a better way. At the end, what matters is you and the baby are alive and well. If that entails CS, go for it.

To the men, you have a huge role to play in encouraging your wife to walk in faith. If you build yours, you will also save yourself the agony of stories that touch the heart.

Cheers, Dr. N.

NB
I must thank everyone who left me a congratulatory message. Thank you for taking the time. I felt the love. God bless you

I read one of pst Nike Areogun’s book back at uni. In that book She said she had never laboured during childbirth, never felt a pain. I was amazed. She said we had become so used to believing that having a painful birth was normal that we forgot it was a curse. God told Adam he would sweat and toil before the earth would yield for him, he told the woman he would sharpen her pain in pregnancy and in pain would she give birth.
Pst Nike said she told herself christ has freed me from the curse, that she was a new creation fashioned after christ, she would not bring forth in pain. She said she has never brought forth in pain. I was like wow. I started to re orientate myself, if someone could have a painless child birth so would I when its time. Jackie Mize’s Supernatural childbirth also made me know its a matter of believing no matter the contrary reports. I’ve got a small stature too and sometimes I wonder if I will still have this faith when I’m married and pregnant. Your testimony tells me it is truly possible.Thank you for sharing, you have strengthened my faith.

I guess you are right, when there is no other option , and faith is all that is left, one would have faith. Regards to our baby 🙂

    I mean
Can I fully explain how super excited this made me?
SC is a book I recommend even before. I’ve read it over n over again and everytime it helps my faith. God bless that woman. I truly believe I can’t have my babies any other way but supernaturally and amazingly.
    I mean, I can’t believe anything else.
I believe the craziest things even during the pregnancy period and my goodness, I’ve enjoyed incredible grace tz surreal. I can’t relate anymore with the movies. I think they all lied to us hehehe. I mean Dr N, pregnancy and faith are inseparable. If u leave d bastard devil, he’ll turn this incredible experience to something else.
So I have decided to always ‘one-up’ him and I’ve been winning.
And as for people having an opinion, tell me about it nne. I just can’t deal!!!
    Ugh!!!
I say my feet won’t swell (hello, I wear 42/43) already and I had a new mom trying to force me to believe that NO MATTER what, it must swell. I mean she almost slapped me lol. Considering that she was trying to build friendship with me, let’s just say I wish she didn’t insist on my having swollen feet… Lol
This journey? I’m taking no chances. Both with the devil and the people he wants to use…
Congrats nne. This further strengthened my faith. Starting my ‘PreggE’ diaries’ this week. Can’t wait to share this beautiful faith journey with the world via blogsville…

    Kisses to ur baby,

    E’

Congratulations on the birth of your son, Dr N!!! Also, I receive this order of testimony in Jesus’ Name. (I used Supernatural Childbirth during the pregnancy of my first daughter. I had pain, but it was not that bad because I only used gas & air. I had a big tear but I still thank God because His Word works!!!). Thanks for sharing, God bless you & your family. Amen.

Profound testimony from a Doctor, comforting!. We collect the baton from you incase you won’t have 5 ;)anyway. I digested S.C from cover to cover, I had a list of confessions. I liked her S.C prayer book, I used both simultaneously. It helped,God had my daughter’s birth in control. People subtly pumped in fearI(i had occasional fear moments),I debunked them. I believed in a seamless child birth experience and so were my confessions up to the day of delivery.

Quite interestingly,I never bargained for a long labour but It happened. I kept confessing. In the labour room I heard myself say I won’t die but live… My husband who was beside me a better part of the day was reading Ps.118 Aloud and it touched me that though he didn’t hear me say “I’ll not die but live…” quoted same over me. What the devil meant for evil,God made good. Two days after my daughter’s birth, I battled with anger of having a CS. God why, after all my confessions and believe that I will walk in and out, no pain or tear? After reading S.C why didn’t it become my reality? Did sin keep me from a quick delivery, was fear paramount or was my story different from others? In all God showed up by his love and power that he gave me victory over death. I’ve shared this on my blog long ago: I was already dozing off while trying to push in delivery room. I said to the midwife; “I’m tired I want to sleep”…I was that close, God kept me and he didn’t let me go.

In all this, I stand by his word,it shall come to pass in my 2nd pregnancy(I’ve started speaking and saying It so loud), that it shall come suddenly and not tarry! I won’t travail,I won’t have pain, pregnancy shall be smooth, affliction won’t rise a second time. I believe so strongly for a safe delivery amen.

    Congratulations Dr. N 🙂

Once again congrats Dr. N. I can relate to your story somewhat. When i had my forst baby, i swore i wasn’t going to have another baby. Yeap it was that bad. I laboured from 3pm till i had her around 11. 17pm. Ahh i sang all the igbo songs i knew, wo what i did that day is story for another day. They knew a nigerian had a baby in their hospital that day.

I did read SC book, but i didnt really digest it.

Fast forward 2 yrs later amd second pregnancy. All i know i asked God was for a quick delivery, i didn’t want to spend all that time again. And God did answer that particular prayer.

I went into labour by 12. 45pm and by 1. 20pm my baby was out.

Next one i will not only ask for a quick delivery but also for a painless one.

My advice? Pray for God to give u tact. Get hubby to talk to her. Kindly but firmly, reject her ideas when irrational. Do it with a smile or hug but don’t give in. Tho I’m a doctor I still battle those ideas.

Woooow where can I find that book is it readily available at any bookshop? When I was pregnant I read about your painless labour, used it to build my faith, scoured the internet for materials on childbirth and labour backed with scriptures I even proclaimed the bible passage that said “before she labours she shall be delivered of her child” but I guess my faith wasn’t strong enough cos I still had fear in my heart even when proclaiming. I had a very long very painful labour which ended in a CS cos baby was already distressed and wasn’t engaging even after hours of labour. My next pregnancy will not be like the first one I know what it feels like now and I know it will be a painless one, I won’t allow the fear of it swallow me. Congrats once again Dr N you are indeed a source of inspiration e-hugs and kisses to the boy.

i read that book when I was in PH as a teenager. My mum and I had gone to visit a neighbour who had just given birth. She told us how her delivery was pain free, and showed us the book that made it possible. that calmed my fears about labour. But, curious girl that I am, I started asking older women who were married and had given birth what they thought. Of course, they wasted no time in pointing out my foolishness. they were not even willing to consider it. They just told me to brace myself. So the doubts came rushing back. Your testimony is a faith booster. No labour pains for me when the time comes. Thanks, dear, and Congrats again.

In fact, I have printed out this post and I read it aloud to myself sometimes, just to be reminded that God is faithful and to boost my faith. When my time comes, it will be pain-free as well. This is my declaration from now onwards (but I want twins o, boy and girl… Lol…). Can I bring forth twin babies without having a CS? Cos I’m also petite. Anyway, the same God that did it for you will do same for me when it’s time (by the way, I’m not yet married…hehehe…). I shall be back here to testify. Amen!!! Lol..

I’m also a petite doctor& I’ve also heard comments abt my tiny waist. Ur testimony is inspiring. I’ve bookmarked already. I wl be having my supernatural birth in few months by God’s grace. Some years back, I heard Bishop Oyedepo pray for pregnant women in church & he declared pleasurable ride thru pregnancy& absolutely stress-free delivery. I meditated on dat statement& searched scriptures. I’ve also read supernatural childbirth. I’ve enjoyed God’s miracles in several areas of life, including healing from menstrual cramps& allergies. So I’m confident dat wt God, all things are possible. Thanks for sharing ur story. Stay blessed.

I am 40 week’s plus now and I have already keyed into the supernatural childbirth. I strongly believe it’s already a done deal because my redeemer liveth. No pain, no delays, no tear, no complications, no fear. I already told my husband my process of delivery won’t exceed 30mins including the ride from home to the hospital because my God is more than able with whom there is no limitation nor impossibilities. I look forward to sharing my testimony at the end of the week and of course I won’t be induced.

I just saw this. How are you? May the peace of the Lord cover you and your household in Jesus name

Just stumbled on this. I finally read the book today even though I had been seeing it with friends! I am really encouraged by your testimony and I am going to build my faith for a painless delivery and a drama free pregnancy! How are you and your babies? Shalom
